Listen to music from Acantus like Adoramus Te Christe, Vergene Madre Pia & more. Find the latest tracks, albums, and images from is an Italian early music vocalinstrumental ensemble that, on evidence of this fine recording, deserves the first rate production values and quality presentation typical of all previous Gimell projects that until now exclusively featured The Tallis Scholars. Not only has this premier label returned, restored to independent status after a failed association with Philips, but it brings along with it this unusual group of performers whose unique, some would say earthy style nicely complements the Tallis Scholars long-established a cappella Renaissance repertoire niche. Acantus CD, Album. Acantus, Veendam. MÚSICA ROMÁNTICA DE LA GUITARRA. Acantus', the album and group name presents Italian medieval liturgical music with a distinct sound which sets it apart from most other medieval music I have heard. I am not an expert on music, let alone medieval polyphony, although I listen to a lot of old music and there is a tendency for it to all run together and sound the same. I will not go so far as to say I would immediately recognize this music as originating in Italy, but I would identify it to being from either Italy or Spain rather than from France, Germany, or England. Some pieces also have an unusual and primative form of percussion I have heard no where else. See which songs from which albums Acantus played through the years. Acantus Albums total.
