I thought Odelay might be the last time I got a chance to make a record, Beck says of his 1996 album. I was acutely aware that I was thought of as a one-hit wonder. But almost twelve years later, Odelay is the definitive Beck album, full of funk, noise and sliced-up jokes. Beck reminisces about his landmark disc at the Hollywood studio where hes quickly recording a new one with a producer he declines to name. Were not going to get sidetracked, he says. Reviews of the Beck! - Odelay (15):
Can anyone share their thoughts on how this pressing sounds?
I agree with josephblbuffalo. I found a complete mint one today and it sounds verry good.a full powerfull sound with more air then on the cd. I would highly recommend this release.
I just received a copy in the mail today. It was a complete copy. It was graded vg+. It sounds quite good. The high and low end are pretty ballanced. Some songs are pretty fuzzy sounding because of its intended sound not necessarily because of surface noise. There was some between tracks and quieter parts though. Overall it's exactly what I expected and hoped for. I haven't listened to any other vinyl pressings. I'm used to listening to the cd before this and I do think the vinyl has a more full and authentic sound because I suspect that this album was recorded on tape just like mellow gold. However I am not sure.
This album , very different , I listen mostly to jazz , dub , African , funk etc but I bought this to sell and it became a keeper . Great record !!!
My copy does not include 36"x12" insert/poster, Bong Load sticker and either Bong Load order form.I bought it in Barcelona in 1998. Anyone having the same problem?
Musical Aura Island
I bought mine brand new a bunch of years ago. It has the sawtooth sticker on the shrink wrap. It had no BongLoad sticker or order form. But, it has two posters. With a name like BingLoad, it HAS to be stoners. Hahaha
I also bought this record new in shrink wrap and it was just a plain white inner, no inserts. Bought in US around 2004 deep in a bin at a used record store.. Sticker on front is Gold with saw blade silhouette reading "Limited Edition 180 gram Vinyl LP"
I bought the record brand new in shrink wrap. Thanks for answering!
Was it in shrink wrap when you bought it or was it already open? Mine has the poster, but not the other two, however I got it used through discogs so this might be the reason.
On the Modern Vinyl website they have some news about the reissue coming this October. "Vinyl Me, Please" is apparently releasing an alternate/variant version which is one LP pressed on marbled burgundy colored vinyl and includes 2x 12" posters + one sticker. Label says "DGC" so I guess it means this edition is directly made by Geffen Records.
Bong Load Limited Edition Reissue already sold out. http://www.bongloadrecords.com/#!product-page/tw39p/3b93bf1e-7699-198b-bfb6-842414ef616f
Check your local store. Sonic Boom in Seattle got 25 copies.
US pre-order page meltdown. looks like they may have already sold out.
It's funny, when I listen to this album none of the official conservative Discogs tags fit. They should rather be something like; Alternative, Lo-fi. Nu-Punk. Distorted-Disco, Dirty-Blues, Bedroom-Garage, Post-Grunge, Indie, Experimental, Neo-Hippie, etc. etc. YOU said it!Edit; Let's start a tag-war! :)
An inspiring crockpot , throwing out an insane amount of havoc !!!!!!!
