Brand New Day is an album by the band Blood, Sweat & Tears, released in 1977. This was the band's tenth studio album and their first and only release for ABC Records. Brand New Day was produced by Roy Halee and former BS&T drummer Bobby Colomby. Colomby and Halee had also co-produced the group's fourth album, Blood, Sweat & Tears 4 in 1971. This collection failed to chart on the Billboard Album Charts in the top 200 even though it did reach 205 under the chart. Even the return of vocalist David Clayton-Thomas couldn't help the fortunes of their last two '70s albums, and they were released in 1976. Brand New Day is their first and only effort for soon defunct ABC. The two had been co-producers for 1971's classic Blood Sweat and Tears 4, but, by 1977, the musical landscape had changed, so this is closer to R&B and polished pop, rather than the amalgam of styles that the group was famous for. Brand New Day is a popart songfolk music album recording by BLOOD SWEAT & TEARS released in 1977 on CD, LPVinyl andor cassette. Clayton-Thomas' black vocal is brilliant in these moments as well as in Don't Explain, although the latter suffers from unavoidable comparison with the angelic voice of Billie Holiday's original interpretation. Brand New Day is not in the scope of even the average albums of the jazz rock era, but if you like brass instruments, soul and funk, occasional spin won't hurt.
