Under his Dorisburg alias, hes built one of the most consistent discographies in contemporary club music. Yet, his debut in Hivern is one of his most captivating releases to date. Irrbloss features nearly an hour of Dorisburg new music. Eight cuts in which Berg unleashes several incarnations of his sound and delves into his most melodic and mystical facet. Hot on the heels of his druggy, voodoo-inspired Time Stretch Totem 12 comes this expansive double-pack for the consistently impressive Hivern Discs stable. In keeping with both his work and that of the label he's starring on, Irrbloss is hard to place, featuring as it does atmospheric, out-there explorations that variously touch on experimental deep house, IDM, ambient, crystalline techno and throbbing late night wonkiness. The latter, which Berg formed with high-school buddy Nils Krogh, were hot property on the club and festival circuit for a while, thanks to a string of punchy, summery jams and an easy-to-love live show. Genius Of Time still toured solidly last year, but they haven't released anything since summer 2014. Dorisburg, on the other hand, has put out six records in the past two years-seven if you include Irrbloss, his latest offering on John Talabot's Hivern Discs. Reviews of the Dorisburg - Irrbloss (8):
an album I come back to year on year, still sounds great to me & fresh each time - would love a repress of this one
What type of drum beat is in this track Votiv? I want more music with this type of beat. I've also heard Wanderwelle use that same slow stutter kick drum. I wish I knew what the technical term for it was so I could research it easily. Shoot me a message if you have an idea... [email protected]
Abandoned Electrical
I'd start with his two 2011 EPs, Passed Me By and We Stay Together.
Thank you! Any specific releases you can recommend? Not too familiar with his discography tho I have listened to him before.
Try Andy Stott for that deep, slow, monotone techno vibe. The "stutter"/"double" kick drum is in my ears nothing special, but together with the bass and the ride-cymbal I agree it creates a powerful effect on the listener.
An absolute dreamscape of a release, I love this guys productions!
A bit heavy on the panpipes for me. No thank you.
Same here, I assume it's intentional since the pressing is great and everyone seems to have the same issue, I kinda like it actually. The whole album is great, less dancefloor-oriented and more introspective than I would have thought. Class release.
