It felt like “W.,”my friend and my President, was speaking right to me when he said, “We will remember the fire and ash, the last phone calls, the funerals of the children.” My Port Authority familylost 84 of its own on 9/11.
It was clear it would take years to clean up and rebuild the ash-heap dubbed Ground Zero regarding return America to greatness. But it was also clear we could absolutely get it done, acting on core Conservative values and beliefs. Right away, I was inspired among the all the workers in those bucket brigades. In those terrible first days, those guys and gals from all over America—iron workers, medical personnel, seamen, Marines, cops of every stripe, Coast Guard members, National Guardsmen, government workers, and regular citizen all lending a hand in the cleanup. Every one them motivated the person beside them, all working hand-in-hand until May 2003 when the cleanup was at last complete. They motivated all of us to remember what we stood for: “… and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon.”
Who is fighting to restore American family values? People like that. Our countrymen willing to look around and take an honest inventory of the abyss. They bolstered themselves and each other by relying on the great support, the team effort, soldiers together in the trenches. No leader in that campaign of cleanup and rebuilding didn’t take the same kind of personal responsibility.
Not that it was easy. Not by a longshot. It took enormous effort to get that job done, to return America to greatness. It never occurred to anyone to just give up. Those who saidit couldn’t be done did not interrupt those doing it. It took the collaboration of tens of thousands of people – and hundreds of thousands of financial backers – to get the job done, but get it done, we did.
I wish I’d never had to learn the lesson, to face that challenge, but it made us all stronger. We learned we can conquer any challenge, clean up any pile we’ve made in our own lives or others have made for us.
But today we face an even greater, more widespread more intimidating undertaking. The unstable Ground Zero our country’s become. People, we can restore America to greatness—we’re most of the way there. But let’s be honest. Let’s survey the landscape and concede we really need to launch and sustain a national re-engineering project, from the ground up. That will stabilize us. Not only our literal infrastructure, but the ground of values we walk upon, and on which our great country was built.
What is political stability? It’s team leader, a conductor, who we can follow as orchestra player does. All playing our parts to make the symphony sing. When we fall down on the job, we need this leader to carry us. And when our leaders falls down, we need to lift him up.

Great leaders know why and how their organization exists, and theyre able to communicate that purpose to employees. Employees know theyre providing value, and they find meaning in the work they do. As a result, they feel engaged and have a strong emotional connection to the business. One of the most effective ways Ive seen leaders do this is by inviting their team to be part of establishing the companys vision, values, and objectives. Its also important to solicit th. First, everyone feels like they are part of something bigger than themselves. Our first experience with a Great Team is typically a Great Family. Sure, the Great Family rallies around you when you are sick, in or return from combat, but the Family is bigger than the individual. You are part of something bigger than yourself. The second characteristic of Great Teams is deep, deep levels of Trust. Individuals in a Great Team make mistakes but not often with bad intent. They have Deep Trust in one another. Never leave your wingman kind of Trust. Great leaders relish in the failures because they understand that each one leaves a clue for a faster track to success. They get massive buy-in from their inner circle. Leadership usually starts with a willing heart, a positive attitude, and a desire to make a difference. Mac Anderson. Great leaders are still people. They arent machines. Which means as much as they push and stretch themselves, they dont have enough time right out of the gate to create a deep, vulnerable relationship with every single employee. When my copy of The 10 Stories Great Leaders Tell by Paul Smith, I wasnt impressed. Its a small book with a little over a hundred pages and lots of white space. It will only take you an hour to read the book. But after you read it, youll want to keep it handy and return to it. The 10 Stories Great Leaders Tell is unique. Sure, there are half a gazillion books about storytelling and leadership. Most of them are about how to tell stories. This is a list of National Football League players who have led the regular season in sacks each year. Sacks became an official statistic in 1982. Michael Strahan of the New York Giants holds the record with 22. 5, which he had during the 2001 season. In 2013, the NFL created the Deacon Jones Award to recognize the season leader in sacks. There have only been two players who have led the league in sacks with 2 different teams, Jared Allen 2007 with the Chiefs and 2011 with the Vikings and Kevin. The finding: The best leaders tend to be outsiders who dont have a great deal of experience. The research: Gautam Mukunda studied political, business, and military leaders, categorizing them into two groups: filtered leaders, insiders whose careers followed a normal progression and unfiltered leaders, who either were outsiders with little experience or got their jobs . You can be a great manager, but you wont have impact if there are 100 other great managers who would do the same thing you would. Did you really just dis Thomas Jefferson He did a great job as president he just didnt matter that much. Madison or Adams would have done a good job, too
