Repeater is the full-length debut studio album by the American post-hardcore band Fugazi. It was released on April 19, 1990, as Repeater on LP, and in May 1990 on CD bundled with the 3 Songs EP as Repeater 3 Songs. It was recorded at Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, Virginia, and produced and engineered by Don Zientara and Ted Niceley. Repeater is often regarded as a definitive album for the band and a landmark of rock music. It has been described as an angrier American update of Gang of Four's. Repeaters musical repertoire includes complex solos and guitarrhythm sections that would be an influence on rocks landscape in the years following the albums release. The album has been featured on several best of lists, including a rank by Treble magazine as the eighth-best album of 1990. Repeater Q&A. Listen free to Fugazi Repeater Turnover, Repeater and more. 11 tracks 34:59. By the time Fugazi released their debut full-length album, Repeater, the post-hardcore act had already made its mark as a truly unique force in the rock world. Charging only five dollars for their sensational live shows, and releasing two stellar EPs - 1988s self-titled effort and 1989s Margin Walker - had already given Fugazi a devoted fanbase. Led by Minor Threat frontman Ian MacKaye, Fugazi paired the aggressiveness of old-school hardcore with the precision of post-punk outfits like Gang of Four to create a signature sound. Repeater is,when compared to the record that came before it 13 Songs,a more aggressive outing. Fugazi was building more on their punk sound than their dub sound, and while the change isn't extreme, it is certainly noticeable. Repeater is Fugazi's second outing and while the band certainly made quite the impression with 13 Songs, lots of critics will tell you Repeater is the finest of the early Fugazi work. In my personal opinion, I think it is perhaps as an album the weakest Fugazi release because of the unchanging sound of it. Genre: Post-Hardcore.
