Recorded at The Ground Hog Studios in Holland, Pennsylvania, it was produced, engineered and mixed by guitarist Chad I Ginsburg, and originally released on February 27, 1999 by Distant Recordings and Teil Martin International. Since its initial release under the title Camp Kill Yourself, the album has been reissued a number of times by various record labels with different titles and album covers. System is the fifth studio album by British soulR&B singer Seal, released on 12 November 2007. In his online blog, Seal described the album as a return to his dance roots and his best album since his debut. However, it is his lowest-selling album to date in the US, selling 155,000 copies in the first year of its release, according to Nielsen SoundScan. All lyrics are written by Seal. Reviews of the System A:D - Volume 1 (6):
Another fine L.P. from the legendary Basement Records off-shoot label Homegrown! All about "21st Century" for me! Enough said! <3 <3
Awesome track - System AD was in Adelaide in the 90s- and it sounds like he could still be there??I also have a test pressing he gave me (DOPE-1) an uplifting track with some nice breaks, piano and hoovers - not sure if this ever got a release though?
DJ Rattttyyyyyyyy . . . . . . . . .
As Sportingaz has said, a truly haunting tune that transcends musical boundaries and generations. It was one of the few tunes of the period that I could play to my folks and they'd 'get it', although I admit I slowed it down a couple of notches! Incidentally, Daringa Street is a real street in Mile End in Australia, hence the obvious links to the producer. Took me 11 years to find this tune having first heard it on a Top Buzz DJ tape and, you know, it was worthwhile waiting. An absolute blinder.
Its always puzzled me that 'System A.D' doesn't appear to have released any further records along these lines following what I think is one of the best jungle/techno tracks of all time. For me this EP sums up the time when the perfect balance between jungle and hardcore was struck and although it was only for a very short time, 12"'s like this shouldn't be forgotten about. I gather he produces D&B of a more soulful nature and lives in Australia these days, I've always been fascinated by these tracks though so wherever the System is now. Big Up!
I'm not sure he is Australian as the blue dot on the logo side is meant to be the area in England where the record was produced, hence the blue dot moving round from place to place on each release.
